    Our August In Pictures

This August was a strange one for us. We were meant to have a family week. We were expecting to go away for the first week of the month. But it didn’t happen. Instead we’ve been desperately trying to fit in our days out around work, kids club and other commitments. August is also my birthday month, which always means a fun day out in the sun (sunshine not always guaranteed.) And thankfully there was no exception to that this year. Days out – Grizedale Forest, Loughrigg Tarn, Rydal Caves and Bolton Abbey We had a couple of great days out in August and I loved each and every one.…

    Our July in Pictures

Last month I thought Lockdown had gone quick. It’s nothing compared to how fast the last two weeks had gone. I’m back at work, Spike is back at kids club. It seems like two minutes ago when I was collecting our June pictures together. July just wizzed by. July 2020 We managed to fit a fair bit into July. Visiting friends. Spending some time in a coffee shop. Climbing a big hill. paddling in rivers. Visiting one of our favourite day out locations in Cumbria, Lowther Castle. We had a week where my sister stayed to look after Spike while I worked so she got to explore amazing trees. Plus…

  • Our June 2020 in pictures blog graphic with blog title and two images. First shows a 5 year old blonde girl with her arms outsretched under a canopy of trees in the woods, the second shows the same girl painting a money box shaped like a cat.

    Our June in pictures

I think time sped up when lockdown begun. Do you agree? I can’t believe we’re at the end of June. But with lockdown no on the wind down and me facing the prospect of returning to work, I thought I might start reflecting on our months. June 2020 June was a lot of the same as previous months. We worked on our lockdown project a little. Spike started playing with some friends on our estate and because social bubbles are a thing we got a visit in with Auntie K and a socially distanced garden day with grandma. Natures playground We have made the most of the slow pace and…

#MySundayPhoto – Bee beautiful at Lowther Castle

Usually I share photos of Spike for #MySundayPhoto but this week I thought I’d do something a little different. We travelled up to Lowther Castle for my birthday on Tuesday and spent the whole day enjoying nature. Spike loved it, I loved it and T struggled towards the end because it was warm and we’d done lots of walking! Even then though, I think he loved it too! Whilst exploring one of the castle’s areas – Shap Abbey Steps – which Spike found beautiful, we discovered a little friend taking some nectar from a plant. This little bee was so busy and so beautiful I thought I just had to…

    #MySundayPhoto – Meeting Baby R

This weeks sunday photo is an extra special one. We went to see T’s sister yesterday who has just given birth to Baby R. Her third boy, our nephew and Spike’s new cousin. This little bundle of joy and cuteness means Spike is no longer the baby in her dads side of the family. But thats ok, because it was love at first mention and she’s been desperate to meet him since she heard there was a baby in her aunty’s tummy. Obviously this isn’t an arty shot. It’s not one to brag about, especially with Spike’s dodgy hair (she styled it herself) but you can see all the love…

    Top 5 instagram photos – June 2018

I really need to start getting better at doing these. I forget and then the next month has gone. But not for June. It might be half way through July but I remembered and I’m gunna post them anyway! Last month was a bit of a hectic one. We did loads, but also not a lot. We had crazy weekends followed by boring weekends and it was nice to sometimes do nothing at all. I enjoyed some quality time with Spike and I think once the start of the month was over and Spike started to be the relaxed and happy daughter I thought I had it was much better.…

    My Sunday Photo – 1st July 2018

Yesterday we spent the day with friends at a beautiful wedding. This unusual British weather we’re having proved to be the perfect backdrop and T managed to capture this stunning image of my girl in the evening sun at around 6:30! I love everything about this photo. She was being super mischievous so has the cutest smile. The lighting was just at the right level and the colours in her dress fit in with the natural setting. It, as I say, isn’t one of my photos but it captures everything I love about my girl and photography. Props to the Mr for getting it when I couldn’t… I was holding…

Top five instagram photos – March 2018

I haven’t shared my top five Instagram posts since last October. Which was so long ago! I love seeing what people loved the most on my Instagram feed each month. Sharing my top five is a great reason to look over the past month and see what I loved about my instagram moments too. March was a fun month with us finally spending a little more time outside than we have done for a while and spending lots of time with family. Spike is really starting to build on certain aspects of her personality and our fifth most liked photo of the month shows the mischievous side of her personality…

Capturing those special moments – Families Online’s #everymomentcounts challenge

As some of you may have noticed on my Instagram feed last week I joined in with a very special campaign for Families Online. This campaign asks families to capture those special moments. To take in the time you get with your family and make it count. After all #everymomentcounts. As part of the campaign we were given a theme for each day between Monday 18th and Sunday 24th September. We were then asked to capture a moment that fit the theme. I joined in excitedly knowing that we were on holiday and I would be capturing the moments as they came anyway. The campaign was easy in most case…

    My Sunday Photo – 13/08/2017

For this weeks My Sunday Photo I wanted to share a perfect capture that my partner got on Monday. We took to Park View Park in Lytham to check it out. We only had an hour spare but it’s definitely a place we’ll be going to lots. The reason I love this picture so much is because it shows how brave Spike is becoming. She had no second thoughts when it came to walking across this bridge at all and loved it. It was probably about 5 1/2 foot off the floor at its highest and was only a thin rope across the bottom! Her concentration face is awesome.…
