Growing, growing, grown up! – When adding 2cm is a cause for celebration

Spike has been the same height for about a year now. You might think I’m kidding when I say this, but I’m seriously not. She’s teeny, I’ve written about it before. At football every week she is the shortest by almost an entire head, not that it stops her joining in! I know that growing is not a part of growing up. She’s getting cleverer and growing into her own personality all the time. I can see she’s growing up, but I can also see she’s not growing. I used to worry about it. but these days I take it for what it is. She’s healthy, she eats plenty and…

Mama styles for Mother’s Day – My top 5 Mama sweatshirts

Obviously Mother’s Day is round the corner, and us mum’s tend to like to get a little spoilt for it. My first Mother’s Day involved a gorgeous Apple Photobook to celebrate my first year of being a mum. Last year I got a Harry Potter cushion from Primark and a gorgeous photo frame which now holds a photo from the day, taken on the beach at one of my favourite places. It will be hard to top that, but one of the ways my darling partner could, is to get me a mama sweatshirt. I’ve been after one for a while, but I don’t want a proper in your face…

    My Sunday Photo – 25/02/2018

Last weekend we hit the woods to see the blankets of snowdrops at a Jacobean house that a local community group are trying desperately to save. We went last year and loved supporting this group and the work they are doing, and seeing Spike’s face as she examined the flowers. This year we decided to go again and I loved how happy she was running wild through the words saying “I’m gunna pick one!” I managed to get her not to pick any by distracting her with a stick. She started whacking trees with it then I asked if she was a wizard and thats where the true fun…

Friendship and non-judgement – my theory on being a better person

Friendship is a weird thing isn’t it? You may have never thought about it but we all have friends. And I bet you all met those friends in a million different ways. We use our intuition at first to determine whether or not we want to talk to someone, get to know them better. Then we build on a tiny glimpse into their similarities to us to build a friendship. What gets me is that this tiny glimpse into that person’s life or personality is quite often the thing that makes us dismiss them too. And unless you are forced together, it means friendship hard. Friendships I have been thinking…

In The night Garden Live 2018 – Discount code

Is your little one obsessed with In the Night Garden? Would they love to go see Iggle Piggle and his mate live in their very own show? Well, In the night Garden Live will be perfect for you – and them! And what’s more, I have a great In the Night Garden Live discount code for you too. We went to the Manchester In the Night Garden Live show last year and Spike absolutely loved it. She loved seeing the characters she watched so frequently on TV come to life on the stage. This year might be a little different as she doesn’t seem to love the show as much.…

Our Valentine’s Day – A day like every other

I love my partner. He works hard. Supports our family. Makes me laugh like no other. We have been together for nine amazing years. Have made a beautiful daughter together. We drive each other crazy. But love each other dearly. Yet none of that will ever, ever make me celebrate Valentine’s Day with him. We celebrated Valentine’s Day when we had first got together. We went out to Frankie and Benny’s and ate off their set menu. It was poncy. They had tried to make everything ‘perfect’ and we felt out of place. It was also stupidly expensive and was full of other try hard couples that we just had…

Dear Zoo Live – Coming to a stage near you!

I’m sure many of you will remember the classic lift-the-flap book Dear Zoo from your own childhood – I know I do! It was a fantastic book full of every animal imaginable and I loved seeing which was behind which flap! I was over the moon when I got a copy for Spike when she was tiny. Even more when she loved it. It’s still battered and bruised on the bookshelf and comes out frequently. It’s even better now she can make the noises associated with each animal. Spike loves animals and the book just as much as I do. I was so excited to hear that Dear Zoo Live was…

Reclaiming our living room – getting a bit of the adult space back

Downing under a pile of kids toys? We’ve probably all been there as parents. Theres a point where you can’t move in your house for all the stuff that belongs to this tiny human you created. And when they get to two, they start acting like they own the place too. Its soul destroying and the reason why we were quick to claim back our bedroom a our own once she was old enough to move into the nursery. Recently we’ve reclaimed our living room by arranging a proper place for all her toys too. Our living arrangements We currently live in a nice, big 3 bedroom Victorian House. With…

    My Sunday Photo – 28/01/2018

Me and Spike are very lucky to know lots of awesome mums and kids. Yesterday was the 1st birthday party of a friend of mine who I have got a lot closer to over the last 2 years. We met through my best friend and have a fair bit in common so it’s always good to spend some time with her. Spike had so much fun playing at the party once she got into it, and with some stern words and guidance, also enjoyed playing with S, my friends little boy. By the end of the afternoon she didn’t want to leave him alone and was chasing after him saying…

Trying to meet our holiday desires – Where shall we go this year?

So last year, we decided to holiday in the familiar. We haven’t really done any holidays for years but wanted to take Spike away. So we opted for a Just for Tots break at the Butlins we took L to 9 years ago. This year, we are a little more strapped for cash as we have decided to put more into savings in the hope we can buy a house sooner. So we are choosing our holidays wisely. Butlin’s Minehead T’s family are heading to Butlin’s Minehead in August, as my nephew is at school already. A week is coming at just under £900 and that is for the worst…
