Arnside Knott at Twixmas – a December day looking over the Bay

We spent a lot of time between Christmas and New Year out and about in nature. But lets face it – there wasn’t much else we could do was there? Those few days were some of one of the few recently where were weren’t in strict lockdown. Therefore, technically, we were able to travel slightly over the county lines to enjoy a walk. So we headed to Arnside Knott. Finding Arnside Knott Arnside Knott has been on my walking wishlist for some time. Its only about half an hour or so from our home so it was easy enough to get to. What wasn’t so easy was finding the route…

Our favourite child friendly walks in Lancashire and Cumbria

We’re an outdoorsy family. Choosing to spend time outside whatever the weather. We always go for long child friendly walks on weekends and when we aren’t working and have done for years. For a while we had to limit what walks we were doing due to pushchair use and when Spike stopped using the pushchair longer walks were harder. But even then, we still went out when we could. Walking in Lancashire and Cumbria The North West has some fantastic walking routes so we are lucky where we live. Lancashire has loads of walks across its 1,000 square miles. The Lake District in Cumbria is only a half hour drive for…

Playing tunes, finding sculptures and enjoying nature – a New Years walk in Grizedale Forest

I love a good walk, and a good forest walk is even better! For the last couple of years I have persuaded the brood to head out and clear out the cobwebs on New Years Day. This year the target location was Grizedale Forest.  Grizedale Forest  Grizedale Forest is to the west of Lake Windermere in the southern Lake District. We looked at going last year but because we were still living near Preston, it was a little far for a day out. Now just an hour or so away, we decided it was the perfect place for a New Year walk.  Getting to Grizedale  I’m not sure if we…

A trip into the hills – The Pendle Sculpture Trail

So this post has been a while in the making. Truthfully I’ve wanted to write it for ages but kept forgetting about it when I was sat down to write! However with #NationalWalkingMonth upon us I realised it was the perfect time to talk about amazing walks me, T and Spike have enjoyed.  The Pendle Sculpture Trail is high on the list. We took to this trail on New Years Day. I always love to go for a walk on New Years Day, it starts the year right and clears your head. This trail was no different. It was harder than expected but with such a mild day to enjoy,…

    My Sunday Photo 7/5/2017

We’ve had a good week this week with, I think, fewer meltdowns. Probably because Spike has been sleeping a bit better!  I’ve been wanting to go to a bluebell wood for the last couple of weeks and yesterday we managed to stumble upon on by accident. It was small but within walking distance of our house and Spike was happy with our find!

    Days out: Haigh Hall Park

With things a little tight at the minute we’re trying to do as much as possible with as little as possible. Spike LOVES being out of the house and in the great outdoors so when we were trying to decide what to this weekend we thought we’d give a new park a go. We’ve exhausted all the parks close to us; there are only so many times you can walk in the woods so familiar that you could do it blindfold. So we knew a new park would need to be a little further away. I’d heard nice things about Haigh Hall Park so we decided to give it a go.…
