I was tagged in the Bedtime Tag by Lisa at That British Betty Blog to answer a few questions about my bedtime routine – thanks Lisa!
Describe your usual bedtime routine.
I walk upstairs quietly (Spike’s bedroom is at the top of the stairs!) and go into my bedroom. Putting the baby monitor into its charging holder, I put anything else down I may have taken upstairs and head into the bathroom. There I brush my teeth, fill up my glass with water and nip to the loo. Then I check on Spike and on cold nights put her blanket on her. I go from there into my room where I get undressed and jump into bed. Where I scroll through social media for ten minutes or so!
What are your favourite pyjamas?
At the minute some awesome Dinosaur ones I got from Primark just before Christmas. They are Christmas themed but I don’t care, planning on wearing them all year round!
What is your current bedtime reading?
I don’t read at bedtime. I did for years, but then I started uni and found myself falling asleep whenever I started reading a book. This is not good practise for someone doing a literature degree! So I had to retrain my brain and basically stopped reading after 10pm. I still try not too read late as I love reading and don’t like the fact it can make me feel so sleepy! However if you’re interested, I’m currently reading Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton and its awesome!
What would I find on your bedside table?
This varies depending on whether I’m asleep by it or not. I have a very boring bedside table and it has last nights water glass, my ‘pill’ packet, and my lamp on it right now. When I’m asleep you’ll also find my glasses and my phone on it.
What scent makes you sleepy?
I honestly don’t think any scent makes me sleepy! I know lavender is the usual one people says does but it doesn’t make a difference to me!
What is your usual bedtime and wake-up time?
It depends on Spike! I usually go to bed between 10 and 11pm, with sleep coming between 10:30 and 11. Then get up time varies. Since we got Spike out of our bed again and sleeping through the night in her own, its been a mismatch of times. For the past few days its been around 6am though.
What are your top three bedtime products?
I don’t really have bedtime products. I always use mouthwash after I brush my teeth on a night (not on a morning though as it really interferes with my coffee enjoyment! But thats about it!
What is your most common sleeping position?
On my side, facing away from T, with one hand under my head and the other usually cuddling the duvet.
Do you have anything you like to take to bed with you?
T, he’s always good to have in bed with me… that sounds so dodgy!
What is your worst bedtime habit?
Probably scrolling through my phone until too late… or forgetting that I plugged by fitbit charger into the plug that my phone charging cable is meant to be plugged into so I have to rummage around in the dark for it!
