Virgin Trains spread a little kindness this Christmas – It’s a wonderful line from London to Glasgow

This Christmas Virgin Trains and Rethink Mental Illness are encouraging you to spread a little kindness. They have teamed up to paint the entire Script of Its a Wonderful Life on the train platforms between London and Glasgow Central.

Spreading the story

Its a Wonderful Life is a Christmas Movie like no other. Its about kindness and about the lows that can be found at this time of year and how other people can bring you out of them. Its a story that makes you think and believe in the kindness of others, and makes you want to spread that kindness.

Our mission

Virgin Trains asked us to pop along to our local train station, Preston in Lancashire to take in our part of the story and share the quote that means the most to us. Thankfully one of my favourite quotes from the movie was right there on Preston station so I was able to see it in all its glory.

Bread, salt and wine

“Bread… that this house may never know hunger. Salt… that life may always have flavor. And wine… that joy and prosperity may reign forever. Enter the Martini Castle.” Its such a sweet and lovely line in the movie as George and Mary show the Martini’s into the home that George’s business helped them buy and I remember loving it when I watched the movie. It’s exactly what anyone should hope for when they start their life, no hunger, flavour and joy and prosperity and its a speech that touches the Martini’s.

The writing on the track

Its a Wonderful Line offers something for everyone from Preston to Glasgow something to read as they await the train. But I do wonder how many will take anything away from it. I hope its a lot of people! The fantastic website #itsawonderfulline tells people what its all about and I hope people take on board their own kindness when they step on board their train. Its a hard time of year for some people and the kindness you spread helps others realise their worth and helps you build your own, just like George does in the movie once he truly thinks about things.
