I went to BlogOn MSI, and I loved it!

I went to BlogOn MSI readaraptor hatchlingIt’s taken me a week and a half to write this post. And for that I am sorry. However, I went to BlogOn MSI and I loved it so I want to shout about it from the rooftops!

For those of you who aren’t familiar BlogOn Conference is a North West (Manchester specifically) conference aimed at Bloggers. There are seminars to help improve your blogging technique and brands to chat to and network with. I went a few years ago but it was very heavily focused on parenting bloggers and I wasn’t one back then. Now though, I am now and it was definitely worth a trip into the city for the conference this time.

We, with our suitcases, hit the streets and made our way to the Museum of Science and Industry where I bumped into Lisa straight away. Upstairs I also found Lindsay from Me, Him, The Dog and The Baby which is why I love these things as I’ve been talking to her for years and it gave me a chance to meet her properly! And don’t forget Susan Mann, who I met for the first time in Manchester last year (when she was at the conference but I was not!) and who is another blogging friend I’ve spoken to online for years!

Me and Lisa made our way into the keynote which was hosted by BlogOn MSI creator and mastermind Laura Seaton. It was all about getting organised and as thats something which I really need to work on I listened with great intent!

There were 16 seminars at the conference. With 4 held at the same time during 4 sessions. This meant choosing a seminar was exceptionally difficult for me and there were some sessions that I wanted to split myself in two for! First up I made my way to Advertising and Promoting your blog via Social Media by Tim AKA Slouching towards Thatcham. It was really interesting and I learned a little bit but it was more basic that I had hoped and I knew most of what was discussed.

Next up was 6 Steps to Going Pro by Aby from You Baby, Me Mummy. I follow Aby’s blog and am a member of her Facebook page and the things she shared in the session were a bit more built up from those. I really love her attitude towards everything blogging related and she had some great tips for going pro. With only an hour to work on my blog each evening its going to be a slow burn for me but I’m hoping I can get there with it!

After that there was another break where I got to meet the awesome Jax AKA Live Otherwise before her session on Advanced Blogging Shite. Jax is a blogger who I started talking to years and years ago on twitter. She knows her shit when it comes to tech and blogging and she has always been a great person to turn to when I’ve needed questions answering. I loved her talk on advanced blogging and learnt so much while in it… including some bits I really need to look into!

Finally there was a raffle, which I didn’t win anything from, and the last session. This was on Facebook and how to do Facebook in just 15 minutes a day… I can’t quite get my head around that! However, I’m trying and my facebook page is getting a bit more engagement lately at least! My Fussy Eater blogger Ciara was really down to earth and lovely to get all the info on this from too!

me-lyndsey-me-him-the-dog-the-baby-blogon-msi-readaraptor-hatchlingAll in all the BlogOn MSI Conference was a massive success. I went, learned loads, met some amazing friends and even new people, and got a shed ton of goodies… Spike never saw any of the sweets, let me tell you that!

If you’re a blogger and are looking for a North West based blogging conference you cannot go wrong with BlogOn MSI. Its amazing and sells out fast but it will be worth it if you can get a ticket! Here’s to BlogOn Xmas if I can get one!
